Denver— The full length feature film, The Goal, premiered September 22 in front of a sold out audience at Starz Film Center. The Goal will continue to screen at Starz through September 28. Show times for the film are 2:35, 5:00, 7:15 p.m. with a question and answer session with the director and actors following the 7:15 showing.

Audience member’s ages ranged from 5-85 and included a group of 8-12 year-old athletes from the Colorado Fusion Soccer program. The young athletes watched the film closely and participated in the question and answer session after the film. Local screenwriter, Karen Hemmerle, and The Goal director, writer, and producer, Darla Rae, both thought that their questions were very thought out. Rae said, “They had such amazing questions. You could really tell they liked the movie.”

The question and answer session continued for one hour after the screening of the film. Following the question and answer session, Darla Rae, Ryan Parker and Gale Grove signed DVDs for the audience. “We only had so many that had been purchased in advance, so we had to go get several additional copies for audience members who wanted to purchase copies. They all waited patiently as we signed them,” said Rae.
Michael Johnson, a film student from CU Boulder, thanked Rae and her cast for making the film, and showing that individuals with disabilities can still have relationships and can contribute much to society if only given the chance. His wife has had Muscular Dystrophy since her youth.

Rae’s company, Film It Productions, also provided tickets to a family currently living the story of The Goal. Film It Productions also provided the family with a DVD of The Goal so they could show other family and friends. “I think they truly enjoyed The Goal. This is what The Goal is all about. It’s about making a difference in people’s lives, no matter what the situation,” said Rae.

Proceeds benefit the disabled community and various non profit organizations. Tickets can be purchased online at www.denverfilm.org or at www.thegoal-movie.com which benefit various groups and include a signed DVD of The Goal.
